A Guide to Eating Clean, Whole Foods

Eating Clean, Whole Foods, AKA "Paleo Diet"

The paleo diet, also known as the "caveman diet," is based on the idea of eating the same types of foods that our ancestors ate during the Paleolithic era. Proponents of the diet believe that by eating a diet that is similar to what our ancestors ate, we can improve our overall health and well-being.

You're going to be eating fresh, natural food that you could hunt or gather. Meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and healthy fats like olive oil and coconut oil. You can have honey and 100% maple syrup. This eliminate all processed foods, sugar, and dairy. It also excludes all wheat products and rice. Instead of aiming to make this a "diet", treat it as a cleanse for a couple of days to a week and see how you feel. If you end up loving the results like I did, you can adjust it slightly or find lots of alternatives (for healthy versions of foods) in order to make it long term.

The Health Benefits

One of the main benefits of the paleo diet is that it emphasizes the consumption of nutrient-dense foods, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, and lean meats. These foods are high in vitamins and minerals. The paleo diet is also eliminates processed foods and refined sugars.
